Prunus lusitanica ‘Angustifolia’ is a variety of the Portugal Laurel plant, but more formal and tidier looking. Its leaves which grow on red-purple stems are longer and narrower.
Angustifolia will tolerate most soil types, is particularly adaptable to chalky soils, and is most commonly used as a hedging plant. Small white flowers appear all over this evergreen shrub in summer, and gradually transform into small red fruits by autumn..
It is considered a low maintenance shrub, that will only require pruning once a year.
